Compositing in Movies
This week you will research where compositing is used in feature films. Upload a
still image from a movie scene and break down the scene elements; background,
foreground, all elements making up the composition. Describe the live action and
the CG elements and how the compositor may have put the scene together; take
your best guess.

ReplyDeletehere is link to my still image from the movie world war z. well here you can see there are zaombies running and climbing over this bus. there has been a lot of editing here where you can tell there has been a green screen in the background to make it look like there are more zombies and to make the whole background look the way it looks. also with the smoke and the way the bus is tilting over while the zombies run over it.
I'm sorry can you please explain more I'm not catching on
DeleteAn excellent image choice! Despite the possible break down that you've explained above, what do you think makes the appeal; what brings cohesiveness of the shot as much as it is? With other words - most people in the world do not know post-production process and understanding of film making or SFX - they wonder how it was done!; so what brings all elements together (hint: color theory)?

ReplyDeletethe movie that I picked is from real steel and I believe that the far background is just a plain, the background are actually actors as stand-ins....the only CGI that I can make out are the robots and controls..i see a smoke effect from the impact of the punch and also a spark and fire effect from the turn of gears from the inside of the robots as they move and throw punches this is a basic fight night scene.
to catch the realism of a fight scene do you think they use motion cap or CGI the hole animation

ReplyDeleteThe the movie i pick was the matrix because of the transitions for 3d to live action when neo fought ageant smith there were many parts where they replace the characters with 3d animation too stretch the realism of a fight scene. the animated characters gave more of a facial expression be when a punch. when switching from live action to CGI the animation was used to exaggerate facial and body motion.
